The effects of inflammation include:
•vasodilation (the opening of junctions between
capillary cells, allowing fluid and WBCs to leave
the blood and enter the surrounding
tissues). This causes swelling of afflicted tissues
•redness
(from heightened blood flow)
•pain
(from prostaglandins released by tissues
binding to nerve receptors)
