All of these organisms were referred to as
the
Black Pigmented Bacteroides
or "BPB”
We have since identified 10+ human species and
additional animal species and transferred them to 2 new genera - Prevotella and
PorphyromonasNow refer to them collectively
as the Black-Pigmenting Anaerobes or
Black-Pigmenting Anaerobic Rods
All
