We also find a large

of factors that defeat the normal host-defense
factors. This include an enzyme
that degrades
complement C’3, a fibrinolysin, IgA and IgG proteases, and
substances that cause a decrease in phagocytosis and intracellular
killing. They also produce a
superoxide dismutase.
