Virulence Factors of A. a.
FACTOR ACTION
Leukotoxin Kills leukocytes
Immunosuppressive Factor Suppresses immune response
Catalase Destroys peroxides
Superoxide dismutase Destroys the superoxide radical
A.a. has quite a few potential virulence mechanisms.  Most important among these is its production of a very rapidly acting leukotoxin.  It also produces a factor that suppresses the immune response.  In addition it produces catalase and superoxide dismutase.
