basic training

Target Audience
This course is for surgeons who are interested in learning techniques for performing robotic-assisted laparoscopic procedures in general, thoracic and vascular surgery. The training is based on didactics, videos, surgery observation and laboratory sessions.
The training program is designed for two surgeons and one or two physician assistants.

Course objectives
  • Understand the principal indications and contraindications to robotic surgery in general surgery
  • Learn  the basic principles used in robotic surgery
  • Learn the standard setup of the robotic system and  positioning of patient
  • Become familiar with the basic technique of robotic assisted suturing and knot tying
  • Learn basic tricks and troubleshooting for the robotic surgical system

Teaching Staff
The teaching is performed by the faculty; all members have an extensive experience with robotic minimally invasive procedures. Training sessions consisted in a case observation part, where the training surgeons will assist procedures, and a laboratory session (dry and Animal).
