In addition to her UICNI appointment, Cynthia Barnes-Boyd ("Cee") is also the Assistant Dean for Community Initiatives in the UIC College of Nursing. Dr. Barnes-Boyd has a distinguished record in public health and extensive experience working with community organizations. A Registered Nurse, she holds both bachelor's and master's nursing degrees from UIC, as well as her Ph.D. in Nursing Science. From 1997 to 2000, Dr. Barnes-Boyd was Special Assistant to the UIC Vice Chancellor for Health Services and Director of Community Health. From 1991 to 1997, she served as Executive Director of UIC's Mile Square Health Center and during that same period, she was Director of Community Outreach for UIC. Among other awards, Dr. Barnes-Boyd is the recipient of the "Women in History" Award from the Chicago Urban League and the National Woman's Hook-up.
