Myron Orfield will speak on metropolitan cooperation to address fiscal disparities, poverty and inequality. As a member of the Minnesota State Legislature, Professor Orfield was involved in developing ground-breaking tax sharing policies for the St. Paul/Minneapolis region. His book, “Metropolitics” has had national impact on the debate over metropolitan issues.

Tyrone Forman will discuss racial residential segregation in Chicago. Professor Forman is Co-Director of UIC’s Chicago Area Study (CAS) Initiative which seeks to strengthen research training and public-decision making in the State of Illinois related to race and public policy. CAS annually collects social science data that addresses the complex social forces that influence the quality of life of residents in the Chicago metropolitan area.
