Corporation (LISC): Assistant Development Officer - New York City
Local Initiative Support Corporation (LISC) seeks a highly motivated
and results-oriented individual to fill the position of Assistant
Development Officer in the development department of national LISC
located in New York City.
Background
The Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) is America's
largest private community development support organization. LISC is
dedicated to helping community residents transform distressed
neighborhoods into healthy and sustainable communities of choice and
opportunity — good places to work, do business and raise children.
LISC mobilizes corporate, government and philanthropic support to
provide local community development organizations with:
loans, grants and equity investments local, statewide and national
policy support technical and management assistance.
LISC obtains the financing for its programs and operations through a
complex combination of sources. These include grants from
corporations, foundations, government, and in some cases
individuals; and below-market loans from banks, foundations, and
insurance companies. The development department at national LISC
executes strategies to raise private grant funding for LISC;
maintains systems for tracking ALL (local and national) private
fundraising efforts at LISC; develops and implements cultivation and
stewardship programs; provides technical assistance to local
offices; and generally represents the corporation with all national
funders.
Responsibilities of the Assistant Development Officer
Support development staff and senior leadership in the stewardship
of national, multi-site funding relationships
Responsible for managing donor acknowledgement process, including
writing acknowledgement letters for the President and senior staff,
tracking donor status and history
Responsible for analyzing fundraising data and local office
fundraising performance
Assist with the preparation of presentations, briefs, and progress
reports for new and current funders
Assist in donor and program research
Maintain fundraising and donor contact information
Carry out routine administrative tasks, as needed
Qualifications
Undergraduate degree and knowledge of fundraising preferred Some
experience working in or knowledge of affordable housing or
community development preferred; basic finance and banking
terminology a plus
Strong computer skills, including knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint,
Word, and Web research techniques
Excellent analytical, writing, and organizational skills, and a
strong commitment to community development
Must be conscientious and very detailed-oriented
Ability to multitask and handle long- and short-term assignments
simultaneously.
Compensation
This is full-time position at the assistant program officer level at
LISC, and reports to the Director of Development. Salary
commensurate with experience.
