    Planned downtime

    The UIC dialin service will be discontinued October 1.  If you use the dialin service, please make alternate arrangements as soon as reasonable, but certainly before Oct 1.

    ACCC has been providing UIC faculty, staff, and students Internet access through dial-in lines for many years.  However, the need for this service has dropped significantly over the past couple years, and it is increasingly expensive to maintain for a small number of users.

    While we do expect to maintain service until Oct 1, the dialin server is specialized hardware, and if it were to fail irreparably, it won't be economical to buy a new one.  Please don't delay in making your alternate arrangements.

    We will send emails specifically to those few users who continue to use the dialin service, to make sure they get adequate notice.

    Here are some suggestions for Internet service providers that you can use as alternatives:

    CABLE- Comcast
    www.comcast.com

    DSL - AT&T
    www.att.com

    Dialup service-Netzero
    www.netzero.com
