4 Element Library

4 Element Library (UP19980821 )
This chapter describes each element, in numerical order (as listed in Table 3.1-2). Descriptions common to several elements appear in separate sections of Chapter 2 and are referenced where applicable. Read Chapter 2 before reading the element descriptions in Chapter 4.

The details of the element should also be reviewed in Chapter 14 of the ANSYS Theory Reference, which explains how the element input items (such as the real constants, material properties, KEYOPT switches, etc.) are used to produce the element output.

Not all elements are available in all ANSYS products. The following legend appears on each element description. A Y symbol next to each product means that the product contains the element.

The labels correspond to ANSYS products as follows:

Even though an element may be available in a particular product, some of its options may not be. Section 4.n.4, "Product Restrictions," details the specific restrictions the element has in each of the products.
