Orchestra

"The Chicago Champions"

Fans! here's your chance to show your friends of the diamond

what you think of them, let's make it a good one for a starter.

(2)

Parody, "Marching Through Georgia"

The Cubs have won the pennant boys, that's why we're here tonight

Gallant Chance and all the Cubs put up a bully fight,

So we're glad to honor them, it's due them and it's right

So for the Cubs we are cheering.

Chorus

Hoorah! Hoorah! the Cubs have won first place

Hoorah! Hoorah! they made a gallant race

For honest Frank and all the boys, we'll show our loyalty

While for the Cubs we are cheering.

Let's sing another verse boys, let's sing it with a vim,

For they beat out all the rest, the Giants they did trim,

Let's give the Cubs a mighty cheer, the boys we know can win

While for the Cubs we are cheering.

(Air, Chorus of "The Red, White and Blue")

Three cheers for Chance and the Cubs,

For they beat all the rest of the clubs,

There's glory for all and they played winning ball

Three cheers for Chance and the Cubs.

(3)

Orchestra

"El Capitan"

Are we willing to tell the team that we like their style ?

Of course we are. so let us do it with one accord.

(4)

Parody, "Just My Style"

When first the Cubs started out to win the flag, we loyal fans were true,

We knew they could hand us out the goods and lick most any crew,

We watched and we cheered them each day to victory, through both summer and the fall

Do what they might, we knew they were right, they always played winning ball.

First Chorus

If you ask why we are loyal, we will ask you if you know,

They're the swiftest bunch of players, not one of them is slow

They're a manly lot of fellows, and we knew it all the while,

Let's pay tribute to the Cubs, boys, for they're just our style.

Second Chorus

They're nineteen players in the bunch, and every one's a star,

Nineteen sounds quite good to us, it's nineteen above par,

And Muggsey can remember too, for he nearly had a fit,

When all his pitchers were knocked out, score nineteen to nit.

Third Chorus

To Frank Chance we doff our hats, boys, we're glad to cheer his work,

He's a hustler from away back, no effort does he shirk,

He's not slow when on the bases, and be knocks the ball a mile

He's a chance we'll take a chance on, he's just our style.

Just to recall the series with New York, "Muggsey" et al,

Everybody who remembers those games please sing.

(5)

Parody, "Waiting at the Church"

New York's in some trouble, that I will confess,

Somebody with them has had a game,

They should by now be the winners of the flag

But they still got to kick, O what a shame.

They were proposed by a certain Mugs McGraw,

In a most ungentlemanly way.

As the only ones who had a right to play upon the field,

But what an awful slap he got one day:

Chorus

There McGraw was waiting at the gate,

The crowd said he's a skate,

He couldn't see home plate,

When he found that he could not dictate,

My, how, it did upset him,

All at once he sent around a note, here's the very note,

And this is what he wrote:

Please Mr. Boss, can I bring in my goat,

Johnstone wouldn't let him.

Chorus

Another day he tried to have his say,

Was in everybody's way, the game they didn't play,

McGraw said I'll have my Umpire today,

My what a &ame of bluffing.

Then the man who knows what he's about, says-now it comes out,

Pulliam said Johnstone he could fire him out,

Then-nine to NOTHING.

Chorus

On our Frank we'll always take a Chance,

He can make them dance,

And 'round the bases prance.

He is never, never in a trance

No matter what may happen.

He's a man who always plays clean ball

A quitter he will call

And send them to the tall

He always says, "Fair play, or none at all--"

FRANK CHANCEP OUR CAPTAIN

Everybody can sing the next number excepting President Murphy.

And he is ordered out of the game for this Inning at least.

(6)

Parody, "Everybody Works but Father"

First Chorus

Everybody works but Murphy, he sits around all day,

Jollying along his patrons, he's got a winning way

He knows he's got the winners, the rest are only dubs

Why shouldn't he feel elated, he's President of the Cubs.

Second Chorus

Nobody works like Murphy, he works hard all day,

Working out the winning dope, while the Cubs are at play

The dope that brought us winners, so now let him brag,

He's got a team of champions, the boys that won the flag.

Third Chorus

So everybody works but Murphy, he sits around all day,

Counting up the money, wondering how ‘twill pay

Likes the job of President, likes it pretty well

Thinks New York can beat our boys, he does like?--

No one is sorry that he is more than forty-five minutes from Broadway

tonight, and because of that it Is a good reason why he should do full justice

to George M. Cohan's song "So Long Mary" even though it's in the form

of a parody.

It's up to the many good singers amongst the Cubs to do their little vocal

stunt, the other guests will do the rest.

(7)

Parody, "So Long Mary"

(Cubs) It's awfully nice of all you fans to have us here tonight

(Fans) So long Cubsies

(Cubs) ‘Twas mighty good of all you fans to cheer us in our work

(Fans) So long Cubsies

(Cubs) You helped us win many and many a game

If we lost you fans were not to blame

And next year we'll try to gain more fame

Tonight we'll say farewell.

Chorus

(Fans) So long Cubsies we shall miss you most of all

So long Cubsies come back this winter and play ball

We'll go out if 'tis freezing, even through the snow

So long young bears, we surely hate to have you go.

Chorus

(Cubs) So long rooters, our games this year have all been fought,

So long rooters tonight you've won, nineteen to naught

But for us we hope you'll keep on rooting--never lag

So long rooters, in the spring help hoist our flag.

Chorus

(Rooters) So long Cubsies, pitchers, catchers, fielders and all

So long Cubsies, we'll call the game a draw for all

And we'll say goodbye and good luck boys, while you roam

So long Cubsies, don't forget to come back home.
