Port, successful businessman, UIC graduate, and longtime benefactor to UIC and many other charities, organizations, and institutions. Mr. Port's endowment provided for the renovation of Grant Hall into the modern, visually appealing, and fully-furnished Language and Culture Learning Center. The center was officially opened in September 2007 and named in memory of Sidney's daughter, Sandi Port Errant, who was a philanthropist and noted leader in a wide range of local charities and cultural institutions during her lifetime.
