Nanosensors for Medical Applications

The Alliance for Integrated Networks of Nanoscale Sensors for Biomedical Applications seeks to provide for revolutionary advances in medical diagnostics and prosthetics by exploiting integrated networks of nanoscale sensors accompanying signal transmission systems. To provide new tools for the life sciences, this interdisciplinary research alliance focuses on the use of manmade semiconducting and metallic nanostructures to fabricate unique biomolecular sensors that are capable of sensing individual molecules that play critical roles in biological processes essential for cellular functions. The alliance focuses on applying the principles of engineering to biomedical sensing through the coordinated efforts of engineers and medical professionals.
