Advising at U I C

Identifying Your Advisor and Scheduling Appointments

Academic advisors are faculty members and professional staff who assist you with course selection, scheduling, degree requirements, administrative requirements, the interpretation of rules and regulations, and the utilization of campus resources. Academic advising is available to all UIC students. Your college determines and verifies that you have met all requirements for graduation.

The Advising Directory lists contact information for all undergraduate academic advising offices on campus (sorted according to Colleges & Departments, Support Programs).

Some colleges have department-level advising. Department-level advising may occur in addition to or instead of college-level advising depending on your major and your class standing. You should consult your college office to determine if department-level advising is recommended or required for your major.

Academic advising at UIC is decentralized and occurs in your major college. Other offices on campus, such as the Honors College and Athletics Academic Services, also provide academic advising in partnership with your major college. Many other offices provide counseling and support services that complement college advising.
