Welcome! The Undergraduate Advising Resource Center Web site highlights the importance of your work as academic advisors in the educational experience of undergraduate students. Academic advising is essential to UIC’s commitment to providing access to excellence. The advising process helps undergraduate students gain access to the knowledge, skills, and resources they need to achieve excellence at UIC and beyond.
Advising is a partnership between students and advisors. Advisors assist students with making good choices about courses and majors; identifying and exploring interests; determining strengths and areas for improvement; and finding strategies and resources that will lead to success. Students learn to take responsibility for their academic lives by being prepared for appointments, asking good questions, listening to suggestions, making informed decisions, and following through on decisions reached.
UIC provides all students with the opportunity to shape an outstanding education that will enrich their personal and professional lives. In your role as advisors, you assist, encourage, and challenge students to define and achieve their goals.
The information on this site is designed to support and enhance the academic advising services available on campus as well as to help students identify their advisors, learn about the advising process, and discover academic support programs that complement college-based advising.
