Limited Competitions
Every year there are hundreds of research opportunities that limit the number of proposals that can come from UIC. Principal Investigators (PIs) must receive authorization from OVCR's Office of Research Development Services (RDS) RDS@uic.edu in order to submit proposals to these sponsors' competitions.
The list of Limited Competitions contains limited submission opportunities expected to be of interest to UIC faculty. Please note the various Types of Deadlines.
Before you can apply, you must send a Letter of Intent and - in some cases - a White Paper to OVCR for formal evaluation. A committee of Peer Reviewers will recommend the proposal with the best chance of success based upon the sponsor's guidelines. UIC's Limited Submission Process normally allows about 4 weeks between the initial notice and the internal White Paper deadline.
If you wish to apply to a competition not on this list, you must submit a Letter of Intent to RDS. RDS will disseminate the program notice campus-wide, and if warranted, a peer reviewed selection process will be initiated. If there is not sufficient time to post an announcement or hold a peer review process, OVCR may grant permission to submit proposals on a first-come, first-served basis.
