Letter of Intent (LOI)
The Letter of Intent (eLOI) information is used to:
- Determine whether an internal competition is warranted
- Identify areas of potential synergy or collaboration
- Identify additional reviewer expertise that might be needed
- Contact applicants in case of program updates or changes
The letter of intent is required but non-binding.
Letter of Intent (eLOI) form instructions - Adobe Acrobat Requirements
- List names of PI, Co-PIs and their contact information
- Provide Program Information – Please note agency and specific program
- Include Nominating Department Information – To be filled out and returned with original signature ONLY if Sponsor limits program to one nomination per department.
- Specify Unit Business Manager contact information
- Provide Working Title of Research Proposal
- List Five Keywords describing research – to target potential reviewers
- Include a 200 word abstract or lay summary of project
- Provide level of interest for Collaborators
- Check the appropriate box if you are seeking collaborators – please identify expertise sought
- Check the appropriate box if you are willing for RDS to share your information with other applicants who's LOIs indicate similar research interests to your own in order to facilitate potential collaborations.
- Include any other information, if requested in OVCR announcement
OVCR may reserve submission slots for previously submitted but unfunded proposals that received highly competitive ratings from the external sponsor. These will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis by the Vice Chancellor. For consideration, scanned copies of your complete reviews (not just summary) must be included with LOI.
