Centers for Disease Control - Occupational Safety and Health Training Project Grants (T03)
PAR-10-288

Program Summary

The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH)/ Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) invites grant applications for Training Project Grants (TPG) that are focused on occupational safety and health training and on research training. NIOSH is mandated to provide an adequate supply of qualified personnel to carry out the purposes of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970 (Pub. L. 91-596, 84 Stat. 1590), and the TPGs are one of the principal means for meeting this mandate. TPGs are programs at institutions that provide training in the core occupational safety and health areas of industrial hygiene (IH), occupational health nursing (OHN), occupational medicine residency (OMR), occupational safety (OS), as well as other closely related occupational safety and health (OSH) fields.  A new applicant may request a project period of up to three years. Applicants submitting renewal (competing continuation) applications may request a project period of up to five years. Awards for undergraduate programs may have a total budget of up to a maximum of $50,000 per year. Awards for predoctoral academic programs may have a total budget of up to a maximum of $125,000 per year. Awards for occupational medicine residency programs may have a total budget of up to a maximum $200,000 per year.

Letter of Intent Instructions

OVCR may reserve submission slots for previously submitted but unfunded proposals that received highly competitive ratings from the external sponsor.    These will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis by the Vice Chancellor.  For consideration, scanned copies of your complete reviews (not just summary) must be included with LOI.

Depending upon the number of LOIs submitted, OVCR might be required to facilitate an internal peer review process to select UIC’s submission(s) to this program.  White paper instructions will be posted if necessary.
