DOE Early Career Research ProgramProgram SummaryThe Office of Science of the Department of Energy recently announced a new grant opportunity funded under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act for support of the Early Career Research Program (FOA DE-PS02-09ER09-26 ) The purpose of this program is to support the development of individual research programs of outstanding scientists early in their careers and to stimulate research careers in the areas supported by the DOE Office of Science. Awards:The typical award is expected to be $750,000 over five years. The minimum award is $150,000 per year over five years. DOE expects to make 30-50 awards in Fiscal Year 2010. Eligibility:PI must be an untenured Assistant Professor on the tenure track at a U.S. academic institution as of September 1, 2009. No more than ten (10) years can have passed between the year the Principal Investigator's Ph.D. was awarded and the year of the deadline for the application (for the present competition, those who received doctorates no earlier than 1999 are eligible).
