Internal Competition Completed

Principal Investigators selected:

  • Maarten C. Bosland, Pathology, College of Medicine
  • Mark Rasenick, Physiology and Biophysics, College of Medicine

Program Summary

In the second competition for its Med into Grad Initiative, HHMI will award four-year grants totaling $400,000 to $1,000,000 to support Ph.D. graduate science programs that incorporate the knowledge and skills of medicine and pathobiology into graduate education. The goal of this initiative is to develop an understanding of and an appreciation for medically relevant principles by future Ph.D. biomedical researchers.

Applications will be accepted from any institution in the United States that offers a Ph.D. in one or more of the biomedical sciences. The program must be affiliated with a medical facility that is engaged in medical education.

UIC is restricted to two (2) applications.

NOTE: There is no limit to the number of interested parties from any one university who may register an intent to apply.  However, no institution may submit more than two proposals as the primary program sponsor.  If you are interested in applying for this funding opportunity, please submit your intent to apply (mandatory) via the HHMI Online Intent to Apply process in addition to completing and emailing a UIC Letter of Intent (mandatory) form per the instructions below.
