Limited Submission Opportunity
NIH – Global Partnerships for Social Science AIDS Research
RFA-HD-06-007

Program Description

This RFA calls for collaborative applications between U.S. (or other developed country) institutions and institutions in countries hard hit by the HIV/AIDS epidemic. The initiative is designed to enhance capabilities for rigorous behavioral and social science research in relation to HIV/AIDS within these countries. Each of these grants will provide funding to strengthen the research infrastructure of local institutions and will also support a small portfolio [one to three studies] of relevant and innovative research. Research will be conducted with the leadership and involvement of local social and behavioral scientists in partnership with scientists in the U.S. and/or other developed countries. Research topics should address social and behavioral issues in the prevention, care, and/or treatment of HIV/AIDS. It is hoped that the investigators involved in these grants will emerge as recognized leaders in the fields of behavioral and social sciences research related to HIV/AIDS.

The R24 mechanism will be used.
