National Center for Research Resources – NIH Recovery Act Limited Competition: High-End Instrumentation Grant Program (S10) PAR-09-118Internal Competition CompletedPrincipal Investigators Selected:
Program SummaryThe NCRR High-End Instrumentation Grant (HEI) program encourages applications from groups of NIH-supported investigators to purchase a single major item of equipment to be used for biomedical research that costs at least $600,000. The maximum award is $8,000,000. Additionally, it is expected that the funds will be expended expeditiously, within 18-24 months from the date of award. Instruments in this category include, but are not limited to, structural and functional imaging systems, macromolecular NMR spectrometers, high-resolution mass spectrometers, cryoelectron microscopes and supercomputers. Awards: The NCRR intends to commit approximately $160M in FY2010 to fund approximately 40 new awards. Ranging from $600,000 to $8,000,000. Since the cost of the instruments varies, it is anticipated that the size of the award will also vary. The total amount awarded and the number of awards will depend on the funds available for the HEI program. Grants will be awarded for a period of one year (start date: 12/1/2009, end date: 11/30/2010). No indirect costs allowed. Eligible PIs: Eligible principal investigators include any technically qualified research scientist. To be eligible to apply, three or more NIH funded investigators (Principal Investigators of active P01, R01, U01, R35, R37, DP1 or DP2 research grants) who will be users of the requested instruments must be identified. Number of PDs/PIs. Multiple PDs/PIs are not allowed under the S10 mechanism. UIC is not limited in the number of applications it may submit provided the applications are for different types of equipment. A UIC Internal Letter of Intent will be required to ensure applications are not requesting the same equipment. Additional Information Deadlines
Letter of Intent Instructions
LOI form: http://tigger.uic.edu/depts/ovcr/research/funding/forms/0600.doc Depending upon the number of LOIs submitted, OVCR might be required to facilitate an internal peer review process to select UIC’s submission(s) to this program. Peer review will be overseen my members of the Campus Research Board. White paper instructions will be issued to those submitting LOIs, if necessary. Please contact Chang Lee at clee10@uic.edu or 6-1961 with any questions. |
