Tobacco and Health Research and Capacity Building Program FRAF-TW-06-006
Program Description
This RFA calls for research and capacity building
projects that address the burden of tobacco consumption in low and middle
income nations by:
- Pursuing observational, intervention and policy
research of local relevance
- Building capacity in regions
in epidemiological and behavioral research, prevention, treatment,
communications,
health
services and policy research.
The overall intent of the program
is to encourage trans-disciplinary approaches to the international
tobacco
epidemic to reduce the global burden of tobacco related illnesses.
The R01 mechanism will be used.

UIC may submit one proposal
Awards
Budgets are capped at $300,000 of direct costs per year for up to five
years.

Limited Competition Instructions
If requested, submit one electronic copy of a White Paper containing
the following:
- One (1) Page cover page with following information:
- Name & departmental
affiliation of PI and Co-PIs
- Sponsor and sponsor program name
- Title of White Paper
- PI Contact Information
- Optional:
- Identify potential individuals to review proposal
- reviewers should not have a personal stake
in outcome of this competition and ideally
should not be from same unit as
applicant.
- Identify reviewers to exclude
- this information will remain confidential.
- Three (3) page narrative
addressing:
- How your proposal addresses the intent of
Program Announcement
- What PI & team expect to accomplish
- Expected overall significance
- Attach the following for PI and
each CoPI:
- Two page CV
- 1 page current and pending support
Narrative must be 12-point font; minimum acceptable margin is 1 inch (2.5
cm) all around.
