NIH Neuroscience Blueprint
Interdisciplinary Center Core Grants
Request For Applications (RFA) Number: RFA-NS-06-003
http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/rfa-files/RFA-NS-06-003.html
Program Description
This RFA is an initiative of the NIH Blueprint for
Neuroscience Research (http://neuroscienceblueprint.nih.gov),
a trans-NIH partnership to accelerate neuroscience research. Fifteen
Institutes and Centers are
participating
in the Neuroscience Blueprint. This RFA will be administered by
the NINDS on behalf of the Neuroscience Blueprint.
Neuroscience Blueprint Interdisciplinary Center Core Grants will
support centralized resources and facilities shared by neuroscience
investigators.
Each Center will be composed of one or more research cores, each
of which will enrich the effectiveness of ongoing research, and
promote
new research
directions.
Awards
The Center Core Grants provide up to $1.5 million per year in direct
costs for 5 years. This RFA will use the NIH Center Core Grants
(P30) award
mechanism. An applicant organization is eligible for a
maximum of one Neuroscience Blueprint Interdisciplinary
Center Core Grant. Only one (1) application will
be reviewed from a single applicant organization. The earliest anticipated
start date is July 2006.

Eligibility
- Applications must have at least 15 qualifying
research projects all
of which will use the Center, and the usage level proposed for
the qualifying projects must be sufficient to justify the size and
scope of the Center
requested.
- The 15 Qualifying Projects must include awards funded
by at least
four different Blueprint institutes.
- Qualifying research
projects include only
- Blueprint institute-funded
Research Project (R01),
- MERIT Award (R37),
- Research Project—Cooperative Agreements
(U01),
- Program Project (P01),
- Specialized Center (P50), and
- Specialized Center—Cooperative
Agreements (U54) awards provided that there is no overlap between
the requested Center
and existing
cores associated with the P01, P50, or U54 awards. (Each P01, P50 or
U54 award
will count as one qualifying research project.)
- An applicant
organization is eligible for a maximum of one Neuroscience
Blueprint Interdisciplinary Center Core Grant. An institution
that contributes qualifying projects to an application from a different institution
is
still eligible to apply, but specific qualifying projects can
be
used in only
one application.
Please see RFA-NS-06-003 for guidelines and all eligibility requirements.
