National Institutes of Health NIGMS’ Postbaccalaureate Research Education Program (PREP) [R25]

Internal Competition Completed

Principal Investigators Selected:

  • William Walden, Microbiology and Immunology

Program Summary

The PREP supports the research training and education of recent baccalaureate graduates from groups underrepresented in biomedical and behavioral research areas, who plan to pursue Ph.D. degrees. Through this program it is expected that a steady supply of Ph.D. candidates from underrepresented groups will be established.  It is also the expectation and hope that some of the PREP participants will eventually become the scientists who conduct research in areas that address reducing health disparities.  Maximum Award:  $350,000 direct costs per year for up to four years.

UIC is restricted to one application.

Note:  This FOA was released in 2007 and is active through 2010.  The FOA has deadlines which repeat annually.  Applicants may not submit, or have pending, more than one PREP application.  Eligible institutions may hold only one PREP award.  UIC does not currently hold a PREP award.
