Program Summary

The Pew Charitable Trusts invites nominations for the Pew Scholars Program in the Biomedical Sciences.  The program provides funding to young investigators of outstanding promise in science relevant to the advancement of human health. The award provides $240,000 in flexible support - $60,000 per year for a four-year period.  In 2011, the Trusts will name 22 Pew Scholars.

The Pew Scholars Program is open to individuals with a doctorate in medicine or biomedical sciences. As of November 1, 2010, candidates must hold full-time appointments at the rank of assistant professor or equivalent. On July 1, 2011, they must not have been in such an appointment for more than three years, whether or not such appointments were on a tenure track.

Pew Scholars may not simultaneously be supported by similar private foundation awards during the first two years of the grant.  These awards include but are not limited to those of Searle, Ellison Medical Foundation, Beckman, and the Howard Hughes Medical Institute.   We encourage you to nominate a candidate who does not already have significant private funding nor is being nominated simultaneously for such awards.

UIC is restricted to one nomination.
