The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research, Research Development Services in partnership with the Institute for Health Research and Policy and the Center for Clinical and Translational Science are pleased to announce the following research roundtable:
Obesity Research Roundtable - Building collaborations
Thursday,
April 10
2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Chicago Room C,
Student Center West,
828 S. Wolcott
Are you currently doing obesity-related research? Interested in ridging the divides between basic and applied science and forming new collaborations? Then this event may be for you. This roundtable features presentations from two distinguished UIC researchers followed by a structured question and answer period. The second hour will offer moderated break out sessions focused on specific funding opportunities, development of targeted working groups, or other areas of common obesity research interest. Topics will be determined in advance based upon suggestions from those registered for this event.
This forum is an opportunity for researchers to get to know each other, learn about each other's work, and set the stage for future conversations. Researchers from ALL obesity related areas (basic or applied, prevention, disparities, diabetes, translational research, bariatric surgery, etc.) are strongly encouraged to attend. Healthy refreshments will be served.
Featured panelists:
Theodore Mazzone
Director, Center for Clinical and Translational Science;
Professor of Medicine and Chief, Endocrinology
"Overview of the UIC CCTS--Bridging basic, physiologic and community research"
Terry Unterman
Professor of Medicine, Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism
