These costs are "real" costs not readily associated with a specific project such as building space, heating, lighting, etc. UIC's cognizant agency, the Office of Naval Research (ONR), negotiates the F&A rates every few years. Rates are determined according to the type of activity defined in the scope of work. Use the definitions below and the rate tables to determine which rate to use for your project.
