However, in recent years, there has been increased scrutiny of practices at universities regarding compliance with export control laws. Export control regulations apply to:
We encourage researchers to become familiar with the current export control regulations. An OVCR web page dedicated to export control, including a summary of the regulations, is posted at http://tigger.uic.edu/depts/ovcr/research/proposals/exportcontrol/index.shtml. Non-compliance with these regulations may result in significant civil and criminal penalties, both institutional and individual, as well as administrative sanctions. Our office will keep you informed of any changes to the federal regulations and their applicability to research.
