UIC -- NIH Commons Workshop
Thursday May 12th and May 26th, 9:30am - 11:30am *
Administrative Information Systems and Services Office
AOB - B-11; Training Room 11A
*A second session, from 2pm - 4pm will be held if needed due to high response

The Office of Research Services (ORS) will be hosting a hands-on NIH Common's Workshop on both Thursday May 12th and 26th, 2005. The workshop will cover a broad overview of the Commons system https://commons.era.nih.gov/commons/, including but not limited to:

  • Account Registration
  • PI Delegation
  • Use of the Status Module (i.e. viewing of current/pending awards, submission of just-in-time (JIT) information and no cost extension notifications)
  • Completion of electronic Streamlined Non-competing Award Process (eSNAP) reports

eSNAP enables institutions to submit an electronic version of the SNAP Type 5 (non-competing) progress report through a Web interface. To date, the NIH eSNAP pilot has been very successful among the participating UIC departments.

All Type 5 Non Competing Progress Reports under SNAP will be required to be submitted electronically via the NIH Commons starting June 1, 2005.

In addition to the eSNAP submissions, ORS will also be encouraging faculty, when appropriate, to submit their just-in-time (JIT) information via the Commons. Therefore, both faculty and staff are encouraged to attend.

Due to limited space, registration is mandatory. Please contact Gwen Daniels at gdaniels@uic.edu to register. Also, if you are not already registered in the NIH Common's as an Authorized Official (AO) or PI, please contact Gwen to set-up an account prior to the scheduled workshop.

We hope to see you there!
