RE: Policy Reminder: Final Proposals Due to ORS within Five (5) Days of Sponsor Deadline

This memo serves as a reminder and clarification regarding the policies of the Office for Research Services (ORS) concerning all sponsored projects.

Please ensure that all faculty and staff involved in the submission of proposals are reminded and aware of the following points:

  • University and federal policies require that the campus possess two copies of every proposal submitted by UIC investigators.
  • Consequently, two copies of the final and complete proposal must be submitted to ORS within five (5) business days of the sponsor deadline.
  • The Animal Care Committee (ACC) and/or the Institutional Review Board (IRB) are required to review the complete proposal for all relevant federally-funded research. The Office for the Protection of Research Subjects (OPRS) provides certification of this review and approval, which must be submitted to the Sponsor/Federal Department/Agency.

Effective May 15, 2005 the final and complete proposals MUST be presented to the ORS no later than five (5) business days after the sponsor deadline. The ORS reserves the right to withdraw institutional approval if two copies of the proposal are not received within five days after the sponsor deadline.

Please direct any questions to the ORS Executive Director, Luis Vargas at 6-6150 or awards@uic.edu.
