- The Small Business Concern (SBC) I am collaborating
with is requesting a letter certifying that at least 30% of the
work of the STTR project
will be performed at UIC. Do we have a standard letter for this?
- Do I need to register in Grants.gov to submit
an application?
No. UIC
is registered with Grants.gov through the Central Contracting Registry.
Anyone
can search available grant opportunities, and with the PureEdge software
downloaded, can
access a desired application package, which can be completed off-line.
- What
is an Authorized Organization Representative?
The Authorized Organization
Representative, or AOR is an individual with permission to
submit an application on behalf of the Institution. Only individuals
in the UIC sponsored
programs office, Office of Research Services, have this role.
- Do I need
to follow up with a full copy of my proposal with the PAF?
No. Only the
scope of work and budget are needed. Once the application is
submitted, ORS will upload the full application package in to the UI
eRA Proposal
Tracking System and it will be stored electronically.
- My application package is requesting
Representation & Certifications
to be completed, what should I do?
Please contact ORS at 312-996-2862 for questions and assistance on completing
any Representation and Certifications required in the application
package.
- If submission of the application is electronic,
why is the PAF needed five (5) days prior to the deadline?
Even though
the submission is electronic, ORS needs time to review the budget and
information provided on the PAF. Sometimes issues and questions
can arise during this review and we need time to work these out with
the appropriate individuals and University offices.
- Why is the completed
application package requested at least 24 hours prior to the application
deadline?
While it is always the goal of ORS to ensure timely and
accurate submission of electronic applications, technical issues can
arise delaying the submission
process, which may be out of ORS control. In order to ensure adequate
time to work through these issues, which may include having to work
with Grants.Gov,
the completed application package is requested, whenever possible, at
least 24 hours prior to the application deadline.
- Are there any technical requirements
for submitting a Grants.gov application?
Yes. Before you can download an application package, you must
download the PureEdge Viewer
software. This is a small, free software package,
which will allow you to access, complete and submit applications electronically
and securely on Grants.gov.
- The Small Business Concern (SBC) I am collaborating with is requesting
a letter certifying that at least 30% of the work of the STTR project
will be performed at UIC. Do we have a standard letter for this?
Yes, use the Certification of
Research Institution Participation letter.
