Welcome to OPRS—the Office for the Protection of Research Subjects!

Important Notice regarding UIC OPRS Holiday Schedule and Protocol Submissions

As part of the Designated Reduced Service Days, OPRS will be closed Thursday, December 24, 2009 and will re-open January 4, 2010. Submissions received prior to December 11, 2009 will be processed by December 23, 2009. This includes ALL TYPES of submissions (Initial Review, Continuing Review, Amendment, Final Report, etc.)

Submissions received December 11, 2009 or later will be processed after January 4, 2010.

Please plan accordingly.

OPRS provides administrative support for the review and approval of research protocols (experiments) involving humans and human embryonic stem cells (hES). We help ensure that regulations are adhered to for the protection and welfare of subjects, investigators, and the University. Before you conduct these types of research, please verify that you meet the training requirements and have your protocol approved by the designated committees.
