Meeting Deadlines | Committee Composition & Expertise

I. Federal Requirements

A. AWA Regulations and Standards - Minimum three members

B. PHS Policy- Minimum five members

C. Minimum requirements for ACC membership

  1. One Doctor of Veterinary Medicine with expertise in laboratory animal medicine and has direct or delegated responsibility for program authority and responsibilities for activities involving animals at the institution
  2. One practicing scientist with experience in research involving animals.
  3. One nonscientific member
  4. One unaffiliated member

II. Composition of UIC ACC

A. Seven scientific members and one graduate student member in the basic sciences with expertise in a broad range of biomedical fields including endocrinology, cardiology, cell biology, reproduction physiology , neurobiology, pharmacology and psychology.

B. Two veterinarians - both are diplomats of the American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine

C. One affiliated non-scientific member

D. Two unaffiliated members

E. One member with expertise in Safety Issues
