I. Federal Requirements
A. AWA Regulations and Standards - Minimum three members
B. PHS Policy- Minimum five members
C. Minimum requirements for ACC membership
- One Doctor of Veterinary Medicine with expertise in laboratory animal medicine and has direct or delegated responsibility for program authority and responsibilities for activities involving animals at the institution
- One practicing scientist with experience in research involving animals.
- One nonscientific member
- One unaffiliated member
II. Composition of UIC ACC
A. Seven scientific members and one graduate student member in the basic sciences with expertise in a broad range of biomedical fields including endocrinology, cardiology, cell biology, reproduction physiology , neurobiology, pharmacology and psychology.
B. Two veterinarians - both are diplomats of the American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine
C. One affiliated non-scientific member
D. Two unaffiliated members
E. One member with expertise in Safety Issues
