About the ACC

The Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) at UIC is known as the Animal Care Committee (ACC). The ACC is responsible for the review and approval of all research, testing and teaching using animals in UIC facilities, or conducted by UIC students and/or paid personnel, or using funds administered by UIC.Committee functions are administrated through the Office of Animal Care and Institutional Biosafety within the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research.

The goal of the ACC office is to facilitate the protocol writing/review process for the investigator and to ensure compliance of all research, testing and teaching involving animals with federal regulations. The ACC Office accepts all protocol submissions, coordinates protocol review for the committee, notifies the investigator of the outcome of protocol review and works with investigators during the protocol writing/review process.

Please contact us if you have any questions regarding the use of animals in research, testing or teaching.
