Animal Care Committee (ACC)
About the ACC
The Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) at
UIC is known as the Animal Care Committee (ACC). The ACC is responsible
for the review and approval of all research, testing and teaching using
animals in UIC facilities, or conducted by UIC students and/or paid
personnel, or using funds administered by UIC.Committee functions are administrated
through the Office of Animal Care and Institutional
Biosafety within the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research.
The goal of the ACC office is to facilitate
the protocol writing/review process for the investigator and to ensure
compliance of all research, testing and teaching involving animals with
federal regulations.
The ACC Office accepts all protocol submissions, coordinates protocol
review for the committee, notifies the investigator of the outcome of protocol
review
and works with investigators during the protocol writing/review process.
