ARRA ORS Submission Process
ORS handles all pre-award and non-financial post-award activities.
- Review and endorsement of proposals,
- Submission of electronic proposals, negotiation and execution of contracts,
- Reporting, receipt and processing of the Notice of Awards (NOA),
- Interpretation of sponsor guidelines, and
- Ensuring compliance with both agency and University policies.
ORS ARRA-Related Submission Processes
ORS is committed to helping faculty. As more information becomes available from the agencies, our office will adjust processes to best serve the campus research community for the expected influx of submissions.
- Revisions: Program Officers are reviewing grants to identify those qualifing for stimulus funding and may be contacting either the Principal Investigator or the Institution.
- Supplements - Support for administrative supplements for existing, awarded grants to expand and/or supplement the research related to the original research plan may also be targeted by the agency and/or sought by the PI. Examples of potentially eligible items for supplemental funding may include but are not limited to equipment, extensions for postdocs, summer students, and related projects. If you have not been contacted and are considering administrative supplemental funding, please consult in advance with the designated Grants Management Officer and Program Official.

- U.S. Department of Labor, Employment and Training Administration - Health Care Sector and Other High Growth and Emerging Industries Program NEW! (9/3/09) ETA announces the availability of approximately $220 million in grant funds authorized by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 for projects that provide training and placement services to help workers pursue careers within the following industries:
1) the Health Care Sector (Nursing, Allied Health, Long-Term Care, and Health Information Technology) and 2) Other High Growth and Emerging Industries.
- NIST - Recovery Act NIST Construction Grant Program 2009-NIST-ARRA-CONSTRUCTION-01 The goals and objectives of the program are to provide competitively awarded grant funds for research science buildings through the construction of new buildings or expansion of existing buildings.
- NSF Academic Research Infrastructure Program: Recovery and Reinvestment (ARI-R2) NSF 09-562 The purpose of this program is to enhance the Nation's existing research facilities so that they provide next-generation research infrastructure and facilitate the integration of researchers with shared resources such as remote instruments and research platforms, data repositories, and national computing facilities. - NSF Major Research Instrumentation Program: Recovery and Reinvestment (MRI-R2) NSF 09-561 NSF's Major Research Instrumentation (MRI) program provides funds to purchase or develop major research equipment that is too costly for support through other NSF programs. Please note that this funding opportunity is under a limited competition.
- NCMHD Community Participation in Health Disparities Intervention Research Planning Phase (R24) This FOA, supported by funds provided to the NIH under the Recovery Act, solicits applications to support intervention research on health disparities that is jointly conducted by communities and researchers. Please note that this funding opportunity is under a limited competition.
- Challenge Grants (RC1) New research on topic areas which address specific scientific and health research challenges in biomedical and behavioral research that would benefit from significant two-year jumpstart funds.
- GO Grants (RC2) The purpose of the “Grand Opportunities” or “GO” grants program is to support high impact ideas that lend themselves to short-term funding, and may lay the foundation for new fields of investigation.
