Dr. Kostadinova's main area of
research involves the role of public preferences, and media's transmission
of these preferences, in shaping social and economic policies in the
post-communist countries.
A second stream of research focuses on the impact of the European Union on
non-member states. Projects in this category involve the extent to which
the EU's accession process and conditionality affect the policies of the
applicant countries, and the determinants of the EU's official development
assistance to the third world and pre-accession countries.
