Bette L. Bottoms, Dean
Official Dean Appointment
We are happy to announce that Dr. Bette L. Bottoms has been named as the permanent Dean of the Honors College and the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Affairs.
Dean Bottoms had served in an interim capacity in both positions since November 16, 2008.
In the announcement to campus about the decision, Provost R. Michael Tanner wrote:
"Professor Bottoms will provide academic leadership for the Honors College as well as the five campus cultural centers (African American Cultural Center, Asian American Resource and Cultural Center, Gender and Sexuality Center, Latino Cultural Center, Office of Women's Affairs), the Office of Classroom Learning Environments, the Study Abroad Office, and the Office of Special Scholarships and Programs. She will work closely with the colleges, student affairs, faculty, students, provost and others to develop and support initiatives to foster excellence in undergraduate education, student diversity, and the retention and graduation of undergraduates."
