Fellowship in Health Psychology
A
two-year post-doctoral research fellowship is available in a productive,
collegial health promotion research laboratory based at University of Illinois
at Chicago and Hines VA Medical Center. The fellowship, funded by NIH and
VA Merit Review grants, provides two years of support beginning summer or fall
of 2005. The fellow will oversee federally funded studies of:1)
simultaneous behavior change in diet and physical activity and 2) emotional
self-regulation via cigarette smoking and eating.
Primary responsibilities involve research coordination, supervision of graduate
students, data analysis, and manuscript preparation. Secondary responsibilities
involve conducting diagnostic interviews using the SCID-IV and counseling
research participants to make diet and activity changes. Fellow will
participate in grant-writing and have the opportunity to apply for a mentored
career development research grant through NIH or the VA. Clinical
activities provide eligibility for clinical licensure and are supervised by the
Principal Investigator, a licensed psychologist, board-certified (ABPP) in
clinical health psychology.
Applicants should have a Ph.D. (or ABD) in psychology, with skills in research
methodology, statistical packages (e.g., SPSS or SAS) and data analysis.
Knowledge of nutrition, exercise, or smoking is a bonus. Salary and
