AIDS
Walk 11 ChicagoOn Sunday, September 24, 2000, participate in Chicago's eleventh annual AIDS Walk. This annual 5 kilometer walk is the Midwest's largest, one-day AIDS Fund raiser. We encourage you to consider joining and walk for this great cause in September, 2000.
AIDS Walk has raised more than $11 million since 1989 for a wide variety of urgently-needed services, as well as prevention and education programs that benefit those whose lives are affected by HIV or AIDS. Last year, more than 30,000 people participated in the Walk, raising $1.25 million.
Due to unforseen circumstances, UIC will not be sponsoring a team this year. We provide this page for information purposes only. Please visit the AIDS Walk Chicago homepage (Link provided below) to learn more about the AIDS walk and how you can get involved.
HOWEVER: There will be a free bus from UIC to the AIDS Walk!!
If you would like a ride to Grant Park, please be in front of Chicago Circle Center (CCC) 750 South Halsted Street between 9:15 and 9:30 the morning of the walk. The bus will return to UIC after the walk.
Parking is VERY expensive downtown. You are strongly encouraged to take

The AIDS Foundation is the largest private AIDS grant maker in the Midwest and benefits from the money raised in the AIDS Walk. Many patients of the Medical Center (as well as UIC/UICMC employees and students) benefit from services and educational efforts by other recipients of funds from the AIDS Walk. Every dollar raised will make a difference in the lives of people in our community affected by HIV/AIDS. The other fifteen partner agencies serve the entire metro area, with more focused attention on serving communities of color in Chicago.
For more info on the Walk itself, visit the AIDS Walk Chicago web site or call 312.739.WALK (9255).
