The conference objectives include:

1) To educate the lesbian/bisexual/transgender women's community and health care providers on critical and current health issues, as well as barriers to care such as income, homophobia, racism, disability, and ageism.

2) To educate health care providers and policy makers on the issues faced by lesbians, bisexual and transgender women in the health care system, thereby enhancing service delivery.

3) To explore strategies for increasing health promotion behaviors such as routine and preventive care, heightened knowledge of HIV and STD risk factors, substance use prevention and management, violence prevention, mental health concerns and services, and reproductive service needs.

4) To form cross cultural, intra- and inter-state alliances and coalitions on lesbian/bisexual/transgender health issues.

5) To produce tools and information for local communities in the Midwest region.
