Instructions for Poster Presentations
Posters will be displayed for viewing all day Saturday. Authors should plan on attending their posters during the formal poster session Saturday afternoon from approximately 4 pm to 6 pm. Poster boards will be available for placement of your poster prior to the beginning of the morning session, and posters should be put up as soon as possible thereafter. YOUR POSTER ABSTRACT NUMBER WILL BE MOUNTED ON THE BOARD WHERE YOU ARE TO MOUNT YOUR POSTER. Ample supplies of pins and tape will be available for mounting posters. Please remove your poster at the end of the session (6 p.m.).
We will provide tri-fold, foam core poster boards measuring 3’ high by 4’ wide, which will be mounted on tables. You may mount posters created as one large sheet or multiple smaller sheets, but please do not exceed the 3’ x 4’ available area. For the convenience of those who are interested in your poster topic, we recommend providing 8 ½ x 11 printouts or summaries of your poster.
The quality of posters presented at scientific meetings has improved markedly in recent years, but the expectations of audiences also have increased. Please consider the following issues in preparing your poster presentation:
• Make sure the text, figures and captions are large enough to be read comfortably from a distance of 3 feet. Tile lettering should be at least 1” high. Avoid placing too much text on the poster. Figure lines should be heavily drawn. Avoid showing lengthy tables of raw data.
• Remember that the poster will be available for viewing for several hours. The poster should be understandable without oral explanation. Aim for clarity and simplicity. Include objectives, design / methods, results and conclusions, using clear, concise statements.
