Scholarship Association for UIC

 

2008 Scholarship Application Instructions


Each spring the Scholarship Association for UIC offers scholarships for current UIC students. A full list of awards is available on the awards page of this site.

Please note that for most awards applicants must have already completed 12 credit hours at UIC at the time of application.

*Although most awards can be applied for using the materials below, be sure to read the award description fully and follow special instructions where applicable.


Applicants must complete the following process:

Personal Statement – Write one personal statement of approximately 1,000 words that relates your scholarly and professional goals. You may also speak to other important aspects of your life which would help a selection committee to know you better as a person and a student. Read the guidelines for each award carefully as some request specific attributes which you should cover in your essay. Do not write separate essays, but be sure to address all topics required by the awards you have selected unless you are an applicant for the following awards listed below..

***For those students wishing to complete a paper version of the application, you can request a pdf by emailing sauic@uic.edu or visiting the Office of Special Scholarship Programs.

 

2. Submit one paper copy of each of the following requested materials in order for your application to be considered complete:

- Academic Record- Please print out your academic history from the Web for Student system and submit it to the Office of Special Scholarship Programs.

- Two letters of recommendation- letters from UIC faculty members are preferred. All letters should address your scholastic and professional abilities and should not come from family or friends. Letters can be mailed directly to the address below, or handed in by the applicant. (Please note that the form is downloadable and can be printed as many times as necessary.).

**Applications missing one of the above components will be considered incomplete, and will not advance in the competition.

Students are welcome to apply for multiple awards, but need to submit only one copy of the application materials. Applicants should be sure that they have read all eligibility requirements. Applicants who do not meet the stated eligibility requirements will not be considered. Students may not win more than one Scholarship Association award in any given year. Please note that if you are selected as an award recipient that all funds are distributed through the Office of Financial Aid during the 2008-2009 academic year unless you are a graduating senior.


All application materials are due on February 15, 2008 by 4:00pm to room 2506 University Hall.
