ph and the CCSO Nameserver

Client/server software for providing directory information via a TCP/IP protocol. A common use of the client side, ph, is for online telephone directory lookup. To look up Chris Public in the UIC Faculty/Staff/Student directory, enter: ph chris public

The client side of this package is called ph, which, in the unix version is a simple line-mode program which accepts queries conforming to the CCSO Nameserver protocol, makes a socket connection the server, and obtains an answer to the query.

The server side of this package is called qi. It is a simple database engine which stores private or public directory information.
