Postdoctoral Associate in Biophysics
University of Illinois at Chicago
The
Experimental Biophysics group of Prof. Anjum Ansari at the University of
Illinois at Chicago, Physics Department, has an immediate opening for a
postdoctoral research position. The research carried out in the Ansari group include: 1) kinetics measurements of the formation of
secondary and higher order structures in single-stranded polynucleotides to
elucidate the underlying energy landscape; 2) probing the dynamics of molecular
rearrangements in protein-DNA complexes to understand the fundamental rules
that govern site-recognition by DNA-binding proteins. A variety of
experimental techniques such as laser temperature-jump, time-resolved
fluorescence, fluctuation correlation spectroscopy, single-molecule FRET, and
microfluidic mixing are used to probe the dynamics of biological
macromolecules. Publications from the
Ansari lab can be accessed at www.uic.edu/~ansari
Applications are invited from highly motivated and
creative individuals with a PhD degree or equivalent and a strong background in
Physics, Biophysics, Physical Chemistry, Chemical Physics, or a related field.
Prior experience in the area of
time-resolved measurements of the conformational fluctuations and dynamics of
biological macromolecules is desirable. Applications should include a
curriculum vitae with a list of publications, a brief summary of previous
research accomplishments, and a statement of research interest and career
goals. Candidates should arrange for three letters of reference to be sent to
Anjum Ansari, Department of Physics (M/C 273), University of Illinois at
Chicago, 845 W. Taylor St., Chicago, IL 60607 (ansari@uic.edu). UIC is an AA/EOE.
