Criteria:

Leadership
Confronts inappropriate behaviors
Concerned about others
Acts as community "center"/clarifies norms
Service learning/community service/volunteerism
Involved in bonding activities
Loyal to communities: patriotic, school spirit, etc.
Gentle to the environment (recycles, doesn't litter or vandalize, etc.)

Excels

  • Involved in Hall Council in leadership position/Student Senate/other leadership activities
  • Willingly serves on committees if asked
  • Seeks to create positive change on campus
  • Often confronts others about violating community norms
  • Organizes bonding activities
  • Shows loyalty to communities: patriotic, full of school spirit, etc
  • Very environmentally conscious (practices voluntary simplicity, etc.) and caring of area around self (confronts those who litter, picks up litter around area, etc.)

Pass

  • Writes editorials to school newspaper
  • Occasionally confronts others about violating community norms
  • Attends bonding activities regularly
  • Attends Hall Council meetings occasionally
  • Environmentally conscious (recycles, practices fuel efficiency, etc.) and caring of area around self (doesn't litter, picks up litter around immediate area, etc.)
  • Shows tepid loyalty toward communities: patriotic, school spirit, etc.

Marginal Pass

  • Gets involved in (talks about with others, is aware of issues) campus politics if they directly challenge personal interests (e.g., parking, smoking, etc.)
  • Asks RA to confront those violating norms if it violates own personal space
  • May violate norms occasionally, generally complies quickly if confronted
  • Attends bonding activities occasionally
  • Environmentally aware (recycles if facilities are convenient, may sign petitions, etc.) and reasonably caring of area around self (doesn't litter, occasionally may be rough with environment—driving over grass, etc.)
  • Feels, but rarely shows loyalty to communities: claims to feel patriotic, school spirit, etc.

Fail

  • Complains to friends/acts passive-aggressively if interests are not acceded to
  • Thinks rules should apply when convenient to h/er
  • Violates norms, blames RA for enforcing (e.g., makes comments about "living in a prison")
  • Never attends and/or derides bonding activities
  • Shows no loyalty to communities: unpatriotic, no school spirit, etc.
  • Environmentally unaware (practices conspicuous consumption, etc.) and uncaring of area around self (litters, "borrows" furniture from lounges, etc.)
