| Welcome to the Homepage for Dr. Chris Comer's lab. We study a central problem in brain function: how information encoded in sensory pathways is translated into coordinated motor outputs. We study this process in the context of orienting behaviors, so we want to know what kind of computations nervous systems perform on sensory signals to determine the location of a stimulus, and then to generate motor instructions that move the animal accordingly. These computations are performed rapidly by nervous systems every time an animal or a person turns to locate sound, flicks their eyes to focus on something interesting, or turns away to evade something threatening. |
