Christopher Boyer

Associate Professor of History & Latin American Latino Studies

I teach courses on modern Mexican history, environmental history, and Latin American and Latino Studies. I also teach graduate students at the MA and Ph.D. levels, particularly those interested in social and/or environmental history of modern Mexico. My first book deals with peasant identity during the land reform in Michoacán, Mexico, in the 1920s and 1930s. Now, I’m working on a book about rural communities, scientists, and timber companies in the forests of Michoacán and Chihuahua, between the 1880s and today.
