Finance 494: Commodities, Energy and Related Markets

This course introduces markets for commodities, energy, transport, weather, and emissions. After this course, students should understand: A preliminary syllabus is also available to see what kind of fun we'll be having.

Surprisingly, this will be: We will be covering all commodities: ag, energy, metals, weather, and emissions --- not just one of these complexes.

We will also be touring related facilities. Possible tours include the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, a heat/electricity cogeneration plant, and an ethanol refinery. Other possibilities include an aluminum smelter, an oil refinery, a grain elevator, and a cocoa processor.
