Behind Your Velvet Elvis is a site-specific, participatory installation organized by poet Lea Graham and multi-media artist Kristina Dziedzic Wright. Evoking the idea of a shrine or memorial, the space contains collages, assemblages, ready-mades, poems, and other texts. A variety of writing surfaces and a microphone invite visitors to add to the installation by recording their wishes, secrets, poems or other thoughts. With each participant's contribution, the space is constantly changing and evolving. While people leave behind their "offerings" at this shrine, they may take away a poem, prayer, wish or fortune made or supplied by the artists.
